## About the Organisation

The Payments organisation focuses on developing products and platforms that enable users to accept payments from customers efficiently. This includes building APIs for processing payments, enabling regional, non-card payment options, and extending Stripe's capabilities to make it easy for businesses to accept in-person payments.

## What You’ll Do

We’re looking for Senior Software Engineers who are interested in building software services and platforms that impact thousands of employees and millions of Stripe users, regardless of whether they’re an end user, developer, or partner. You will work on projects that span technologies, systems, and processes where you will design, build, test, and ship great code every day.

## Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across Stripe’s engineering teams

- Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack

- Work with engineers across the company to build new features at large-scale

- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes

## Who You Are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

## Minimum Requirements

- You have a strong technical background with at least 6 years of technical experience building APIs.

- Think about systems and services and write high quality code.

- Hold yourself and others to a high bar when working with production systems.

- Take pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems.

- Thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts.

- Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different expertise (for example, ¼ of Stripes work in a country that’s different from the one they grew up in).

## Preferred Qualifications

- Experience optimising the end to end performance of distributed systems

- Focuses on the needs of our users, both internal and external

- Hold yourself and others to a high bar when working with production
