## Description

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting department in Birmingham, AL. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting the accounting functions for Southern Company Services (SCS).

**Responsibilities:**

- Ensure accurate and timely generation of journal entries, including payroll-related journal entries

- Collaborate with the Payroll team and other stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and implement solutions

- Finalize account reconciliations by predetermined deadlines

- Oversee cash accounting activities and prioritize multiple concurrent deadlines

- Compile management analysis reporting on various topics

- Prepare for annual and quarterly external audits

- Foster innovation and enhance efficiency within repetitive processes

- Serve as a subject matter resource for assigned accounting processes

**Requirements:**

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field of study

- CPA or CPA candidate highly preferred; advanced degree desired

- Minimum of 5-7 years of recent general accounting experience

- Knowledge of GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance requirements, and FERC accounting rules and regulations

- Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
