## Description

WSP is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector for our office in Herndon, VA. The successful candidate will provide inspection services for a rail Major Crossing project from Alexandria, VA to Washington, D.C.

**Job Summary** As a Senior Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting and reviewing work in accordance with applicable codes and standards, ensuring compliance with contract documents, specifications, standards, and codes. You will interpret roadway and bridge plans, building plans, specifications, and contracts, and monitor field quality control and quality assurance for materials testing activities.

**Key Responsibilities**

- Inspect and review work in accordance with applicable codes and standards

- Interpret roadway and bridge plans, building plans, specifications, and contracts

- Monitor field quality control and quality assurance for materials testing activities

- Keep detailed records of contractor's performance and progress

- Measure and record material placed for periodic contractor payments

- Conduct receiving inspections when material is delivered to the project site

- Create and maintain daily inspection reports and project documentation

- Utilize construction management software such as AASHTO's Field Manager, Procore, or Primavera Contract Manager

- Recognize construction problems and apply standard techniques and procedures to solve them

- Recommend field changes to drawings and specifications as needed

- Work as a team member without close supervision

- Maintain daily contact with clients and contractors to discuss construction activities

- Attend construction meetings with clients and contractors

- Work in various weather conditions and terrains, and be available nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

**Requirements**

- High school graduate or equivalent

- 11 years of experience in inspection or highway and/or building construction

- OSHA 10 certification

- Soils & Aggregate certification

- ACI certification

- Asphalt 1 & 2 certification

- Paving certification

- Familiarity with Trimble PMIS system

- Working knowledge of state and federal safety, environment guidelines, and regulations

- Valid driver's license

- Proficient in math and English, with good written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to lift 50 lbs.

**Preferred Qualifications**

- Prior experience with VDOT and/or Locality

- Bridge inspection experience

- Active construction management certifications

- Structural Class 1 Rail construction/inspection experience
