## Description

As the Engineering Lead for our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) team, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and operating preventative and detective controls to monitor transactions and customer activity.

You will lead a highly collaborative, cross-functional squad, working closely with data scientists, analysts, compliance managers, and designers to drive growth and minimise friction for legitimate customers.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Risk Detection: Integrating advanced Machine Learning models and building robust controls to spot AUP violations.

- Supercharge Operations: Architecting automated workflows and intuitive internal tooling to reduce the cost per case and median handling times for our operations analysts.

- Own the Architecture: Ensuring our services are highly available, resilient, and secure, with the right monitoring, observability, and decoupled architectures to scale alongside Wise's massive global volume.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

- Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing software engineers in an agile environment.

- A solid engineering background with modern languages and an understanding of frontend frameworks like React and TypeScript.

- Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, concurrent microservices in a cloud environment.

- A product and risk mindset, with the ability to translate complex policy mandates into simple, incremental engineering milestones.

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to align engineers, data scientists, and non-technical business partners toward a shared technical vision.

We offer a starting salary of 80,000 - 100,000 EUR annual gross + RSUs, as well as a range of benefits.
