## Description

This role involves leading the definition, development and validation of the Vehicle Dynamics attribute in McLaren vehicles with support from the Vehicle Dynamics Lead Engineer.

Reporting to the Vehicle Dynamics Lead Engineer, the role involves simulation, modelling, planning, testing, tuning and validation of the Vehicle Dynamics attribute to deliver high-level vehicle targets.

The Vehicle Dynamics Engineer is responsible for controlling and executing the vehicle development plan as well as having technical responsibility over the attribute.

Responsibilities:

- Vehicle Dynamics target setting based on Product direction.

- Defining and managing Design Verification Plan together with Vehicle Development department to ensure attribute achieves Engineering Sign-Off when required.

- Collaborate with the Vehicle Dynamics CAE team to define component level targets and translate onto vehicle level KPI’s.

- Model and simulate “virtual” vehicle to ensure targets are correctly defined and hardware and software specification can deliver them.

- Define and execute vehicle testing plan to tune/calibrate dynamic systems on the vehicle (damping, steering, active aerodynamics, etc.).

- Understand and resolve any issues that may arise during the development process.

- Tracking and reporting regularly vehicle project status.

- Represent the Vehicle Dynamics Team in Attribute meetings and Drive Events.

- Data logging, objective manoeuvres execution and subjective vehicle evaluation experience is required.

- Support other members/tasks of the Vehicle Dynamics Team when required.

Requirements:

- Good amount of Automotive product development experience.

- Excellent knowledge of Vehicle Dynamics.

- Excellent knowledge of chassis hardware systems (steering, suspension, tyres, etc.).

- Very good knowledge of active systems (ABS, TCS, ESP, RWS, etc.).

- Good knowledge of validation, verification and testing process.

- Good knowledge of managing automotive testing plans.

- Good knowledge of data logging and calibration systems.

- Good knowledge of objective maneuvers driving and subjective vehicle evaluation.

- Competent user of Matlab and/or Python, ideally ADAMS Car or any simulation package.

- Proven driving skills, Proving Ground experience advantageous.

Education:

- Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree.

- Master or PHD in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering advantageous.

- High competency in oral and written English language mandatory.
