Join the team behind Tellent Recruitee, an Applicant Tracking System trusted by thousands of organisations worldwide. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll help evolve a product where reliability, scalability, and a great user experience matter.

You'll join Team Hire, a collaborative group of Backend and Frontend Engineers, working closely with Design, QA, and DevOps to solve complex problems at scale. Your primary focus will be backend development in Elixir, working on both new capabilities and the modernisation of the existing codebase.

**Responsibilities**

- Build and improve reliable, scalable backend solutions for Tellent Recruitee

- Develop new capabilities while modernising and improving the existing codebase

- Design and implement solutions that balance technical quality with customer and business needs

- Take ownership of features, ensuring they're well-tested, maintainable, and meet quality standards

- Investigate and resolve bugs and technical issues

- Participate in technical discussions and contribute to system design and architectural decisions

- Collaborate with Backend and Frontend Engineers, Design, QA, and DevOps

**Requirements**

- Commercial experience with Elixir, or strong backend development experience in technologies like Ruby on Rails, Python, Java, or PHP

- Experience designing and building scalable applications, with a solid understanding of databases, preferably PostgreSQL

- General knowledge of Elasticsearch and RabbitMQ

- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic approach

- A strong focus on quality and reliability, with a product mindset

- Collaborative approach and willingness to participate in pair programming, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing
