## Description

The BookOps Logistics Distribution Department at NYPL handles 8 million circulating items annually, delivering them to 150 branches across 4 boroughs within a 48-hour turnaround time. As a Motor Vehicle Operator, you will play a crucial role in this process.

Responsibilities:

- Pick up and deliver library materials, including print and non-print materials, mail, films, office equipment, and other library supplies.

- Load and unload materials, including heavy objects, at various sites.

- Deliver parcels on foot when motor vehicles are unavailable or inoperative.

- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily.

- Maintain the vehicle's interior and exterior cleanliness and safe operating condition.

- Perform minor and basic maintenance tasks, such as checking fluid levels, tires, lights, and adding fluids as needed.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Valid Class 'B' Commercial Driver's License preferred.

- Good driving record.

- Medical certificate for interstate deliveries preferred.

- Knowledge of New York City geography.

- Experience with electronic/manual pallet and floor jacks, hand trucks, and other materials-moving devices.

- Experience operating medium-duty trucks in urban environments.

Skills:

- Operation of library trucks and fleet vehicles.

- Basic vehicle maintenance and repairs.
