## Description

The Public Health team at London Borough of Newham is seeking an experienced Principal Analyst to lead their Intelligence function.

The successful candidate will bring cutting-edge data science skills to work in a fast-paced environment with some of the greatest health and environmental challenges in London.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading work to generate actionable insight to support Public Health, the Council, and the wider Integrated Care System

- Assessing need, understanding service performance, and analysing complex data sets to identify public health trends and equity issues

- Providing leadership to Newham's Joint Strategic Needs Assessments processes

- Leading a team of analysts and providing expert advice on the application of novel and innovative data science techniques

The ideal candidate will have:

- A postgraduate qualification in a suitable field such as health, public health, epidemiology, statistics, or health data science

- Strong understanding of public health, health inequalities, and the wider determinants of health

- Excellent knowledge of health data science, population health analytics, and the production of insight to inform decision making

- Leadership experience in a team with a substantial health data science component

- Excellent project management, time management, and prioritisation skills

The salary for this role is £62,706 to £76,131 per year.
