### Job Description

Samsara is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Developer Experience team. The successful candidate will help set the technical direction for the team, focusing on CI/CD pipelines, AI coding agents, and scaling tooling.

#### Responsibilities

- Help shape the technical direction of the developer platform, including CI/CD, build systems, and AI agents.

- Design and build AI agents to automate tasks such as coding, code review, test generation, release automation, and incident response.

- Scale tooling to keep up with the growing engineering organization without sacrificing reliability or developer happiness.

- Standardize tools and practices to promote knowledge sharing across teams.

- Raise the technical bar through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship.

- Collaborate with engineering leadership to make informed decisions about technical investments.

- Represent Samsara externally through talks, open-source contributions, and other external-facing activities.

#### Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

- 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in an architect or technical leadership role.

- Strong programming and design fundamentals.

- 4+ years of experience working on large-scale distributed systems.

- 4+ years of experience leading technical projects across multiple teams.

#### Nice to Have

- Experience building developer platforms, internal tooling, or CI/CD for large engineering organizations.

- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.

- Strong skills in languages like Go, Python, or TypeScript.

- A track record of improving engineer productivity through measurable metrics.

- Comfort working in ambiguous environments and aligning teams without formal authority.

#### Compensation and Benefits

- Annual base salary: $154,800 - $212,850 CAD.
