## Description

IronEagleX, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), is seeking a Senior Principal Data Scientist to join their dynamic team in Crystal City, VA.

As a Senior Principal Data Scientist, you will create and deliver innovative analytic solutions as a member of a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team. You will work directly with large, complex, and disparate datasets to develop practical analytic methods, identify meaningful patterns and relationships, and translate technical findings into capabilities and insights that support critical customer requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

- Implementing structured, repeatable data analysis across large datasets to surface patterns, trends, and anomalies.

- Exploring and characterizing unfamiliar datasets to determine appropriate analytic approaches.

- Developing and maintaining analytic tooling, such as queries, scripts, and notebooks.

- Developing and evaluating applied statistical, machine learning, and algorithmic approaches.

- Establishing validation methods, benchmarks, and scoring approaches to evaluate analytic performance.

- Building interactive analytic dashboards and lightweight GUIs.

- Creating analyst-ready products, including tables, visualizations, and briefings.

- Working with analysts, engineers, and technical staff to convert ad hoc analyses into reusable pipelines.

- Supporting the integration, testing, and refinement of analytic methods in operational environments.

- Documenting analytic assumptions, methodologies, and limitations.

Required skills:

- Strong Python skills for building practical analytic solutions.

- Strong SQL and hands-on experience working directly with large datasets.

- Experience applying statistical, machine learning, or algorithmic techniques.

- Experience designing and implementing repeatable analytic workflows.

- Practical experience developing analytic methods for entity resolution and relationship discovery.

- Experience evaluating analytic methods using appropriate metrics and validation approaches.

- Ability to independently investigate complex analytic problems and translate technical analysis into usable outputs.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desired skills:

- Experience with applied machine learning techniques.

- Experience working with graph-based data and analytics.

- Experience working with geospatial, temporal, or other specialized data types.

- Familiarity with modern AI and large language model capabilities.

- Experience developing or integrating APIs and lightweight Python services.

- Familiarity with deploying applications in Dockerized environments.

- Experience integrating React-based frontends with RESTful APIs and Python-based backend services.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

- Current TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph.

- 10+ years of related experience.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.

- Onsite role in Crystal City, VA, with travel for 60-90 days to CONUS sites each year.

- US citizenship required due to US Government contract requirements.
