## Description

GovTech is hiring a Staff/Principal Software Engineer to lead the next shift in how MOE's engineering teams build and ship software. The Ministry of Education is moving up the next level of engineering maturity with multiple product teams and platform teams supporting various product domains.

The successful candidate will:

- Champion engineering investment and identify where platform work will most accelerate business delivery

- Shape a coherent developer experience across multiple platform teams

- Ship platforms that make product teams faster, including developer tooling, CI/CD, service templates, observability, and security-by-default

- Set technical direction and standards, defining architecture, patterns, and conventions

- Lead through delivery and trust, working across autonomous teams

Key indicators of success include:

- Building platform-level solutions adopted by multiple teams

- Reducing systemic complexity at an organisation

- Making independent architectural decisions for systems that other engineers depend on

- Growing other engineers through design reviews, technical standards, pairing, or mentorship

- Communicating effectively in writing

The ideal candidate has:

- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3-5 years in engineering leadership roles

- Proven ability to lead teams and deliver large-scale, high-impact systems or platforms

- Solid foundation in modern programming languages and frontend frameworks

- Experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, containerization, and CI/CD tools

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
