## Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Oncology Inpatients team at The London Clinic.

Based in our dedicated cancer centre, you will care for adults at different stages of their cancer journey, including those receiving active treatment, supportive symptom management and end of life care.

You will have the opportunity to build trusting relationships with patients and their families, providing clinical expertise, reassurance and compassionate support when they need it most.

Working alongside experienced nurses, specialist practitioners and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to care that recognises each patient's individual needs and wishes.

With support from our Clinical Practice Educator, you will continue to develop your oncology knowledge and clinical skills, with opportunities to work towards SACT administration competencies where appropriate.

Responsibilities:

- Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating personalised care that meets patients' physical and emotional needs.

- Supporting patients receiving chemotherapy and other systemic anti cancer therapies, working within your competencies and under the supervision of SACT trained colleagues where required.

- Monitoring and managing symptoms and treatment side effects, including pain, fatigue, nausea and anxiety.

- Recognising deterioration and oncology emergencies, responding promptly and escalating concerns appropriately.

- Providing compassionate end of life care, maintaining dignity and comfort while supporting families.

- Working closely with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and maintain clear communication.

- Maintaining high standards of infection prevention, particularly when caring for patients who are immunocompromised.

- Contributing to a supportive learning environment through sharing knowledge and supporting students and colleagues.

Requirements:

- Current NMC registration as an Adult Nurse.

- Ideally, post registration experience in oncology, with experience of caring for patients undergoing cancer treatment.

- Alternatively, experience in an acute medical ward, alongside a clear interest in oncology and a willingness to undertake specialist training.

- An understanding of the physical and emotional impact of cancer and its treatment on patients and families.

- The ability to assess patients, prioritise care and recognise changes in their condition.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.

- IV skills, including knowledge of peripheral and central venous access devices, or a willingness to develop the required competencies.

- A commitment to safe, evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.

- Experience in SACT or palliative care would be an advantage.

Benefits:

- Life insurance: Get life cover worth four times your salary, whether you're full time or part time.

- Private medical cover: Once you've passed probation, our employee medical scheme gives you fast-track access to private healthcare.
