## Description

As a Senior Manager, Data Science - AI Foundations at Capital One, you will lead the next wave of disruption using the latest computing and machine learning technologies across billions of customer records. The Global Payment Network Data Solutions and Modeling team builds machine learning and AI agents to drive foundational, scalable intelligence capabilities that power smarter business decisions and unlock new value across the payments ecosystem.

**Responsibilities:**

- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that change how customers interact with their money.

- Leverage technologies like Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Hugging Face, LangChain, Lightning, VectorDBs to reveal insights hidden within huge volumes of numeric and textual data.

- Be an expert in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to harness the power of Large Language Models (LLMs), adapt and fine-tune them for customer-facing applications and features.

- Build machine learning and NLP models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, and validation; partner with engineering teams to operationalize them in scalable and resilient production systems that serve 80+ million customers.

- Translate complex work into tangible business goals.

**Requirements:**

- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field).

- At least 2 years of experience leveraging open-source programming languages for large-scale data analysis.

- At least 2 years of experience working with machine learning.

- At least 2 years of experience utilizing relational databases.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- PhD in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).

- Experience working with AWS.

- At least 5 years' experience in Python, Scala, or R.

- At least 5 years' experience with machine learning.

- At least 5 years' experience with SQL.

**Salary Information:**

- McLean, VA: $229,900 - $262,400 for Sr Mgr, Data Science

- Richmond, VA: $209,000 - $238,500 for Sr Mgr, Data Science

- Riverwoods, IL: $209,000 - $238,500 for Sr Mgr, Data Science

- Chicago, IL: $209,000 - $238,500 for Sr Mgr, Data Science
