## Description

GitLab is seeking an Engineering Manager for its AI Engineering: Chat team. The successful candidate will manage a team of engineers building AI-powered product experiences that span the software development lifecycle. They will play a key role in delivering scalable, reliable, and high-quality AI features.

The Engineering Manager will help shape the core AI capabilities behind GitLab Duo Chat, enabling customers to work faster and more securely across the GitLab DevSecOps platform. The manager will lead a team of frontend, backend, and AI engineers to deliver GitLab Duo Chat roadmap commitments.

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing a team of experienced engineers to deliver AI-powered product experiences

- Partnering with product and UX teams to define requirements and deliver AI features

- Participating in technical architecture and development work for systems that run AI agents at scale

- Guiding day-to-day execution and setting clear direction for the team

- Coaching engineers and fostering a team culture grounded in curiosity, inclusion, and accountability

The ideal candidate will have experience managing engineering teams in a distributed environment, a strong software engineering foundation, and hands-on familiarity with agentic AI or generative AI applied to software development workflows.
