## Description

We are seeking an AI/ML Data Scientist to spearhead the evolution of our digital landscape, driving innovation and excellence.

**Purpose of the role** To design, develop, implement, and support mathematical, statistical, and machine learning models and analytics used in business decision-making.

**Accountabilities**

- Design analytics and modelling solutions to complex business problems using domain expertise.

- Collaborate with technology to specify dependencies required for analytical solutions.

- Develop high-performing analytics and modelling solutions, demonstrating their efficacy to business users and independent validation teams.

- Implement analytics and models in accurate, stable software and work with technology to operationalise them.

- Provide ongoing support for analytics and modelling solutions.

- Demonstrate conformance to Barclays Enterprise Risk Management Policies.

- Ensure development activities are undertaken within the defined control environment.

**Analyst Expectations**

- Perform prescribed activities in a timely manner to a high standard, driving continuous improvement.

- Require in-depth technical knowledge and experience in their assigned area of expertise.

- Lead and supervise a team, guiding professional development, allocating work, and coordinating resources.

- Alternatively, develop technical expertise as an individual contributor.

**Key critical skills**

- Strong proficiency in Python programming for data science and machine learning applications.

- Good understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms, including Natural Language Processing (NLP).

- Strong working knowledge of SQL for data querying and manipulation.

- Hands-on experience with Spark/PySpark for processing large datasets.

- Experience in predictive model development, validation, and implementation.

- Familiarity with DevOps and version-control tools such as Git and Bitbucket.

- Experience using JIRA for project tracking and management.

**Desirable Skillsets**

- Familiarity with DevOps tools such as TeamCity and Jenkins.

- Knowledge of the financial services or banking domain.

- Exposure to Generative AI (GenAI) tools.

- Working knowledge of AWS and cloud-based environments.

- Experience with Databricks for data processing and analytics.
