## Description

The Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO) is responsible for the provision of the nuclear deterrent, encompassing submarines and nuclear warheads, while advising on UK nuclear planning and fostering international co-operation on nuclear matters.

The DNO Security & Intelligence Division works to ensure the Defence Nuclear Enterprise remains secure, resilient, and assured. This role supports effective security governance and helps senior leaders understand and respond to significant security risks.

The core purpose of this role is to lead the delivery of effective security governance across the Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE), ensuring senior leaders have the insight, information, and forums required to address significant security risks.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead the coordination and delivery of two senior security governance boards

- Shape and improve how security risk is understood and reported

- Support the development and maintenance of an aggregated view of security risks across the DNE

- Build effective relationships with stakeholders across Defence, government, and industry

- Act as a security professional and role model, championing best practice and promoting Civil Service values

- Line management of 1x HEO

Essential skills:

- Experience of coordinating governance forums or decision-making groups

- Analysing complex information and presenting recommendations

- Building relationships with senior leaders

- Identifying, assessing, or managing risks in a complex environment

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to work independently and prioritise competing demands

- Experience of improving processes or governance arrangements

Desirable qualifications:

- Recognised qualification in risk management (e.g., Enterprise Risk Management)

- Recognised qualification in governance or project management (e.g., APM, MSP, PRINCE2 Practitioner)

Desirable skills:

- Knowledge of risk management frameworks

- Experience of developing risk registers and reporting products

- Experience of working in a security, defence, or nuclear environment

- Experience of supporting governance at senior leadership level

- Experience of collating and analysing information to develop an aggregated risk picture

The salary for this role is GBP 46,040 - 50,510 per year.
