## Description

Samsara is seeking a Firmware Engineer to develop software that runs on millions of devices, deployed by industrial and enterprise customers. The successful candidate will have experience building firmware for resource-constrained systems, fluency in C, and solid bare-metal and RTOS experience.

Responsibilities:

- Shape the hardware and software that runs on it

- Bring up new platforms and prototypes from virgin silicon

- Build the layers that determine whether a device in the field quietly recovers on its own or becomes an RMA

- Design protocols and hardware management for battery-powered sensors and gateways

- Partner with product, full-stack, mobile, and quality engineers

- Raise the bar for the engineers around you

Requirements:

- 2+ years building firmware for resource-constrained systems

- Fluency in C

- Solid bare-metal and RTOS experience

- Experience with low-level interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, ADC)

- Real bench instincts

- Cross-team scope and cross-layer judgment

- Ability to write design docs, review comments, and post-mortems

- Comfortable iterating on customer feedback at speed

Preferred Skills:

- BLE at depth

- Cellular IoT (LTE-M or NB-IoT modem integration)

- Securing embedded systems end-to-end

- OTA and device firmware update at fleet scale

- Embedded Linux on the gateway side

- CAN and J1939 work on commercial vehicles

- Python and Bash for tooling and hardware-in-the-loop test automation
