## Description

The Thomas Yoseloff Business Center at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL) is The New York Public Library’s premier business library, offering various resources for personal finance, investing, small business, and career advancement.

The Yoseloff Business Center seeks a collaborative, engaged librarian to work with diverse library users, including business users, investors, and students, and provide outstanding service in-person and online.

Responsibilities:

- Provide reference desk and front-line service in all subject areas represented by the business library, in person and through online consultations

- Assist small business owners and entrepreneurs in market research, business plan development, and accessing patent information

- Promote business resources and collections through discovery tools and resource guides

- Develop, teach, and host classes for the public, visiting classes, staff, and other groups in-person and remotely

- Provide customer assistance in business and finance research

- Participate in outreach through off-site community or library events

- Assist with updates and content creation for web pages, Libguides, and training materials

- Assist with promoting business events and NYPL using social media and other tools

- Assist with center operations, including LibCal, and opening/closing procedures

Required Education & Certifications:

- ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies

- Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate issued by the State of New York

- Undergraduate Degree in business, finance, and/or economics, preferred but not required

Required Experience:

- Experience in a public or academic library setting

- Proficiency in a second language

- Successfully demonstrated public service experience and ability to work well with diverse patronage

- Experience conducting outreach to community-based organizations and government agencies

- Experience working in the NYC small business community

- Experience working with government information sources, including patents, trademarks, and census data

Required Skills:

- Knowledge of business, economics, or finance resources in electronic and print formats

- Expertise in using and teaching business digital resources

- Excellent interpersonal skills, including dealing effectively with patrons and staff

- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills

- Ability to work as part of a team

- Strong organization and planning skills

- Strong computer and technology skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google applications, and social media
