## Description

Leidos is seeking a talented Flight Software Engineer to work in its Huntsville office. The successful candidate will use their experience to help develop software for tactical strike, sensors, autonomy, CUAS, and UAS solutions.

The role involves designing and developing robust software frameworks, as well as fielding, supporting, and maintaining software products. The ideal candidate will have experience with embedded computing technologies such as drivers, flash memory, bootloaders, board support packages, PCBs, JTAG, real-time operating system (RTOS), single board computers, system-on-chip (SoC), and hardware interfaces and protocols.

**Primary Responsibilities**

- Design and develop robust C/C++ embedded software under the oversight of a senior software developer.

- Assist with creating and executing unit and integration tests on software components.

- Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with the team.

- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues and bugs in a timely manner.

- Use GitLab software pipeline for performing configuration management, continuous integration, and automated testing.

- Communicate directly with customers, end-users, and team members on a frequent basis.

**Basic Qualifications**

- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

- 8+ years of relevant technical experience or 6+ with a MS degree.

- Proven track record of implementing software development principles.

- Strong competency in software development in either C/C++, Java, C#, Rust, or Python programming languages.

- Experience writing unit and integration tests with unit test frameworks.

- Aptitude for technical skills required for software development, configuration management, and software quality engineering concepts.

- Strong analytical and process improvement skills along with a personal drive for details and quality workmanship.

- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and use of one or more Agile tools, such as Gitlab Ultimate, Atlassian Jira, Trello, or Monday.com.

- Demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

- Good verbal and written communication skills.

- Must be a resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville-North Alabama area.

**Preferred Qualifications**

- Experience with applicable industry standards (IEEE 12207, CMMI, DO-178C and/or DO-278, RMF).

- Interest and/or experience in software development using AI tools.

- Ability to work across multiple products under development by multiple small teams.

- Experience with the design and implementation of time-sensitive software for integrated systems.

**Security Clearance Qualifications:**

- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
