## Description

We are seeking a Materials Test Engineer to join our Advanced Materials Department. As a key member of the team, you will conduct mechanical testing of materials and test articles to support multiple test programs. You will also support Leidos programs in composites R&D, thermal protection systems, and hypersonics.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct mechanical testing of materials and test articles

- Support multiple Leidos programs in composites R&D, thermal protection systems, and hypersonics

- Assist in guiding research teams to ensure successful program objectives and schedules

- Direct testing and reporting efforts for material test programs

- Investigate anomalous test outcomes and provide recommended problem resolutions

- Serve as a liaison between program teams, technical teams, and exterior teams

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Materials, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent

- At least 4 years of experience (or M.S. with 2+ years)

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Experience with mechanical testing of engineering materials

- Experience with composites and aerospace materials

- Familiarity with ASTM or MIL-STD testing standards

- Self-motivated and able to function in a fast-paced environment

- US citizen with a DOD Secret Clearance or eligible to obtain one

- Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL

Preferred Qualifications:

- Active DOD Secret Clearance

- Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems

- Familiarity with MTS TestWorks Elite

- Strong organization skills

- Project management skills
