## Description

WSP is seeking an Early Career Civil Engineer (Overhead Transmission Lines) for their Birmingham, AL office.

The successful candidate will work with the Power Delivery Birmingham Line Team on projects, contributing to the company's growing organisation that meets clients' objectives and solves challenges.

Your Impact:

- Assist in collecting, compiling, and analysing data from physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.

- Perform basic professional civil engineering work, including researching and inspecting proposed and existing site conditions to ensure conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.

- Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and operating strategies to ensure safety and functionality.

- Verify site characteristics and provide basic technical assistance on engineering, design, and construction issues.

- Generate accurate and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field notebooks.

- Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.

Who You Are:

- Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.

- Have 0-1 years of relevant post-education experience.

- Possess excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.

- Be familiar with design/build processes and concepts.

- Understand relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance practices.

- Demonstrate competent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Be proficient in self-leadership, multi-tasking, and prioritisation.

- Have basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, and spreadsheets.

- Uphold workplace safety and abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Engineer in Training Certification.

- Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS).

- Prior internship related to the degree of study and specific engineering discipline.

- Active participation in local professional practice organisations.

- Minimum 2.75 Grade Point Average (GPA).

- Relevant coursework includes structural analysis, concrete design, steel design, soil mechanics, foundation design, and surveying.

- Previous engineering design or drafting work experience, especially in civil and/or structural engineering, is desirable.
