## Description

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team in Mexico City, Mexico. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably within the payments, financial services, or highly regulated industries.

The role involves leading the evolution of software products and their implementation in various markets, working hands-on, guiding, and mentoring a team of engineers. The engineer will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, and delivery of software solutions, defining requirements for new applications and customizations, participating in team prioritization discussions, estimating and owning delivery tasks, automating build, operate, and run aspects of software, and driving code/design/process trade-off discussions.

The engineer will also report status and manage risks within their primary application/service, drive integration of services focusing on customer journey and experience, perform demos/acceptance discussions, understand operational and engineering experience, and actively work to improve experience and metrics in the ownership area.

Requirements:

- 5+ years of experience in software engineering

- Strong hands-on experience developing scalable, secure, and maintainable applications using Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, JPA, Angular, and SQL databases

- Solid understanding of secure software development practices

- Knowledge of core engineering principles

- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex application issues

- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools

- Strong understanding of source control, branching strategies, and peer review practices

- Hands-on experience applying Test-Driven Development and Behavior-Driven Development methodologies

- Knowledge of object-oriented design principles and common architectural and design patterns

- Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs

- Strong understanding of modern testing strategies

- Experience using code quality and security tools

- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders

- Experience defining and estimating non-functional requirements

- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and automated deployment pipelines

- Ability to analyze engineering and delivery metrics

- Experience contributing to Definition of Done standards, technical documentation, and software delivery best practices

- Strong understanding of release validation, deployment verification, regression testing, and production readiness processes

- Ability to support product demonstrations, stakeholder reviews, and successful delivery of business outcomes

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
