## Description

Lyft's Data Science Team develops mathematical models that power the platform's core services, tackling diverse problems in optimization, prediction, modeling, inference, transportation, and mapping.

We are seeking Masters or PhD students passionate about solving mathematical problems with data to join our team as Data Science interns, focusing on Optimization, Machine Learning, and Inference.

You will report to a Science Manager and work on projects that involve:

- Partnering with Engineers, Product Managers, and cross-functional teams to frame problems mathematically and in a business context

- Performing exploratory data analysis to understand the problem

- Writing production modeling code and collaborating with software engineers to implement algorithms in production

- Designing and running simulated and live traffic experiments

- Analyzing experimental and observational data and communicating findings

To be eligible, you should:

- Be currently pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in mathematical sciences, economics, data engineering, or a related field, with a graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028

- Be available for an internship in San Francisco during Summer 2027

- Have experience coding in Python or SQL, R, and familiarity with standard data science libraries

- Have expertise in one of the specialties: optimization and mathematical modeling, machine learning fundamentals, or probabilistic and statistical modeling
