## Description

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Ad Serving squad on the Advertising Product & Technology team at Spotify. The team builds and maintains services that process millions of ad decisions per second, handling ad ranking, auctions, floor prices, and blacklist filters.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will architect, develop, and operate Java services that power real-time ad auction and ranking decisions at massive scale. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ideate, develop, and own complex technical solutions on ad ranking and auction platforms.

Responsibilities:

- Architect, develop, and operate Java services for real-time ad auction and ranking decisions

- Build and maintain services for scoring, filtering, and selecting winning ads

- Design and evolve auction mechanics, including second-price logic and floor price enforcement

- Be a technical leader and valued contributor in an autonomous, cross-functional agile team

- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and data scientists to identify and solve challenging problems

Requirements:

- 4+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer

- Experience with Java and Scala

- Low-latency, high-throughput system development experience

- Distributed, high-volume service deployment and management experience

- Strong understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms
