## Description

As a Senior Distinguished Engineer at Capital One Canada, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction of the company's International Card Tech team.

You will work closely with tech and business senior leadership to drive the development of customer management capabilities for international Card users, including transitioning from an account-centric to a customer-centric decision-making model.

Key responsibilities include:

- Influencing and having a broad impact on International Card Tech and Capital One as a whole

- Identifying and driving transformation changes in culture and delivery

- Mentoring, coaching, and sponsoring the next generation of Distinguished Engineers

- Continuously improving and leveling up software engineering practices

- Bringing together technical leaders to identify commonality and reduce arbitrary uniqueness through standardization and InnerSource projects

- Optimizing solutions globally vs locally

- Initiating, driving, and leading transformational change

- Applying judgment to help platform teams make key technical decisions

- Inspiring diversity of thought and building psychological safety

- Working with Directors and SLT members to understand strategic business desires and guide decisions

- Embracing compromise to get the best results for the organization

- Staying on top of internal and external trends and participating in internal and external technology communities

The ideal candidate will have:

- At least 9 years of experience in general software engineering and solution architecture

- At least 9 years of experience in enterprise architecture and design patterns

- A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred)

- 10+ years of experience in coding with commonly used languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift (preferred)

- 10+ years of experience in the full lifecycle of system development (preferred)

- 5+ years of experience with public or private cloud technologies (preferred)
