## Description

We are seeking an Optical Network Development Engineer to join our Network Product Development (NPD) team within AWS Infrastructure Services. As an Optical Network Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units across multiple global data centers.

You will design, implement, and support scalable testing infrastructure solutions to facilitate optics interconnect development and product deployment. Your responsibilities will include developing automated tools and standardized processes for high-volume optical transceiver system-level testing, leading collaborative efforts with internal stakeholders and supplier partners, and working with network operations teams to identify operation issues and improve quality and RMA processes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical communication systems or components, experience with optical transceivers and IEEE standards, and proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language for automation scripting.

Key responsibilities:

- Develop automated tools and standardized processes for high-volume optical transceiver system-level testing

- Lead collaborative efforts with internal stakeholders and supplier partners to establish robust testing frameworks and quality assurance procedures for optical modules

- Work with network operations teams to identify operation issues and improve quality and RMA processes

- Engage stakeholders to identify areas of improvement during rack deployment or bring-up

- Work with network operations teams to improve link error handling efficiency

Basic qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent

- 3+ years of work experience on optical communication systems or components

- 3+ years of experience developing test scripts for optics validation and characterization

- 2+ years of experience with optical transceivers and IEEE standards

- 2+ years of experience working with optical and/or networking merchant silicon suppliers, manufacturing processes, and qualifications

- 2+ years of professional development experience with Python or a similar scripting language for automation scripting
