As a Staff Backend Engineer at Monzo, you'll collaborate across disciplines to test hypotheses and make a difference to customers. You'll work in a squad alongside product managers, marketers, user researchers, designers, mobile engineers, web engineers, data analysts, business analysts, writers and more!

**Responsibilities** You'll be working on:

- Building and supporting a particular part of Monzo's banking platform

- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve problems and change lives through Monzo

- Working with a range of tools and technologies, including Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Envoy Proxy, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and React

**Requirements**

- Strong experience working on the backend of a technology product

- Product mindset: caring about customer outcomes and wanting to make data-informed decisions

- Comfortable working in a team that deals with ambiguity

- Experience with strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, Scala etc.)

- Interest in distributed systems and writing resilient software
