## Description

We are seeking a pragmatic and versatile systems engineer to join our VLSI Productivity and Infrastructure team. As a system software engineer, you will design, build, and deliver core components of our next-generation productivity platforms. You will develop reliable userspace infrastructure for long-running engineering workflows at scale on bare-metal Linux hosts. Your responsibilities will include building state coordination over NFS, building and improving orchestration around IBM LSF, converting legacy codebases into modern powerhouses using incremental migration techniques, debugging and improving performance and reliability across Linux and Kubernetes, and collaborating with engineering users to turn ambiguous workflows into durable production systems.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of exciting projects, including building and operating long shelf-life systems, automating error detection and remediation, and providing adjacent services for APIs and observability. You will be part of a high-ownership environment where you will often be the expert on what you build.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong background in Linux fundamentals, distributed-systems thinking, and experience building long-runtime automation or services on shared compute clusters. You will also need to be able to translate ambitious, high-level goals into a safe delivery plan and have a track record of incremental modernization.
