## Description

As Legal Counsel, you will be the key legal business partner for Red Bull Japan, supporting the local management team in identifying, managing, and mitigating legal risks across a fast-paced, entrepreneurial business. You will work closely with the APAC Area Legal Counsel and global legal teams, providing practical, commercial, and solution-oriented legal advice aligned with global guidelines, local regulations, and Red Bull values.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Managing legal matters in Japan, including acting as the primary legal advisor for all general commercial legal matters and engaging internal or external legal resources when required. Providing proactive, practical, and strategic legal guidance to identify and mitigate legal risks arising from commercial activities, protecting Red Bull Japan’s business interests. Working closely with the business to ensure appropriate commercial agreements are in place with key service providers, customers, and third parties, and that business activities, particularly in events, marketing, and sales, comply with applicable laws and regulations. Reporting matters of strategic importance to the APAC Area Legal Counsel and ensuring compliance with global and departmental guidelines. Supporting the business team in Japan to locate, identify, and complete the right template agreements, training new employees on the use of templates and the importance of contract management. Identifying and developing bi-lingual template agreements where necessary, arranging for these to be created for use by the business and uploaded to the contract creator system. Identifying and developing legal service initiatives/Legal Operations projects that increase the effectiveness of delivery of legal services to the business, including ongoing review and development of template agreements and other self-service initiatives for the business to access legal services. Effectively utilizing the department’s established document and matter management systems to ensure that all work is accurately recorded and archived in a clear, searchable, and archived format. Preparing accurate and timely reports, legal advice, and other legal documents, including confidential correspondence, agreements, templates/forms, meeting minutes, presentations, etc., in both English and Japanese as appropriate. Marking up documents, translating legal documents for internal review and execution, and providing translation and interpreter services at meetings, negotiations, and other legal proceedings. Managing external counsel, working alongside the Area Legal Counsel APAC in selecting and working with external service providers within Japan and managing associated budgets. Developing and rolling out legal internal training programs, introducing new tools and processes, and coordinating projects, such as Legal Hub, Data Protection, compliance training, and the use of the Contract Creator Tool. Supporting the Leadership Team in managing legal “projects” within the Red Bull Japan organization that may need an overview from legal, such as renewing multiple regional office leases, sales contracts, or other key projects.

Key requirements for the role include:

Five years of post-qualification experience, with in-house experience highly regarded. Experience in commercial law, ideally in the FMCG industry, with exposure to media, sports, or entertainment law also valued. International experience is an advantage. Ability to manage a diverse group of internal stakeholders around the world. Flexibility and a team-player mentality, with the ability to work towards deadlines. Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously and effectively with both legal and business personnel. Ability to meet demanding deadlines without sacrificing the quality of work product. Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Strong prioritizing, time management, and organizational skills. Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills and proficiency in touch typing. Strong oral and written communication skills, with excellent grammar, spelling, and attention to detail. Ability to influence others and hold people to set guidelines and processes. Ability to work in an environment where some communication is with individuals based overseas (and in English). Professional presentation, proactive, self-motivated, energetic, positive, easy-going, personable. Team player with strong cultural sensitivity, high integrity, and a results-oriented mindset, who remains calm under pressure and is inquisitive, open-minded, eager to learn, and flexible in adapting to change.
