## Description

The Associate Director, AI/ML & Computational Biomarkers is the senior technical expert responsible for the design, development, implementation, and technical quality of the AI/ML algorithms that power the organization's digital measurement capabilities.

This role translates digital measurement requirements into robust computational solutions, leveraging advanced machine learning, signal processing, and statistical modeling techniques to derive measurements from wearable, mobile, physiological, behavioral, and other multimodal data sources.

The role serves as the primary technical authority on algorithm design and implementation, ensuring that computational approaches are scalable, scientifically rigorous, reproducible, and suitable for deployment within production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

- Serve as the primary technical expert for AI/ML algorithms and computational biomarker development across the digital measurement platform.

- Design, develop, implement, and optimize AI/ML algorithms that transform multimodal sensor, wearable, mobile, and behavioral data into robust digital measurements and computational biomarkers.

- Act as the lead architect for advanced modeling approaches, including deep learning, representation learning, personalization, and other novel AI/ML methodologies.

- Optimize algorithmic performance, reliability, scalability, and efficiency on large-scale multimodal datasets.

- Evaluate alternative modeling approaches, provide technical recommendations, and articulate the scientific and technical trade-offs associated with different methodologies.

- Establish and maintain high standards for algorithm development, reproducibility, validation, documentation, and technical quality.

- Lead and mentor scientists and ML engineers on complex modeling challenges, system design decisions, and advanced AI/ML methodologies.

- Partner with platform and engineering teams to ensure algorithms are production-ready, scalable, maintainable, and seamlessly integrated into enterprise measurement and analytics platforms.

- Contribute technical expertise to the development and validation of novel computational biomarker methodologies and digital measurement capabilities.

- Contribute to and represent the organization in scientific publications, technology reviews, industry discussions, and external research collaborations related to AI/ML, computational biomarkers, and digital measurement technologies.

Qualifications:

- PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.

- 10+ years of experience in AI/ML, computational biomarker development, signal processing, or data-driven health technologies.

- Deep expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, time-series analysis, signal processing, and multimodal data integration.

- Proven track record of developing scientifically rigorous, reproducible, and production-ready AI/ML solutions from research through deployment.

- Experience optimizing algorithmic performance, reliability, and efficiency on large-scale multimodal datasets.

- Experience collaborating with software engineering, platform, and MLOps teams to deliver production-ready AI/ML solutions.

- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and mentor scientists and engineers on complex modeling, algorithm design, and system architecture challenges.

- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain advanced technical concepts and modeling trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is €52,500.00 - €89,300.00.
