## Description

Samsara is looking for a hands-on Staff Software Engineer to help turn growing Telematics products into major businesses. The successful candidate will work directly with customers to understand their operations, test ideas, and build solutions they choose to use.

Responsibilities:

- Work directly with customers and customer-facing teams to understand unmet needs, test assumptions, and identify opportunities worth pursuing.

- Lead ambiguous initiatives end to end, from discovery and prototypes through production rollout, adoption, and iteration.

- Write and ship code on the critical path, working across services, APIs, and customer-facing experiences.

- Set technical direction for your area and align the teams needed to deliver it.

- Own the production quality of what you build, designing for correctness, reliability, and performance.

- Increase the effectiveness of the engineers around you through design and code reviews, mentoring senior engineers, and removing recurring obstacles to delivery.

Requirements:

- A track record of shipping customer-facing products and growing them beyond their initial launch.

- Strong product judgement, with experience working directly with customers and making decisions using evidence.

- Deep hands-on software engineering ability, with recent experience designing, implementing, and operating production systems.

- Experience scaling products and the systems behind them.

- Technical leadership across team boundaries, with the ability to build alignment without formal authority.
