## Description

WSP is currently seeking an Early Career Substation Drafter for our Overland Park, Kansas office, with the option to consider Joplin, MO.

The successful candidate will be involved in projects with our Power Delivery and Energy Substation Team. The role involves learning and implementing CAD knowledge, understanding client standards, practices, and procedures, and collaborating on design issues.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with collecting, compiling, and analysing data from physical work sites, surveys, and technical drawings to support drafting and design activities

- Draft and design substation projects, including physical and civil layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams

- Use 3D computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software to prepare drawings requiring high precision

- Provide basic technical design assistance, ensuring proper illustration, fit, form, and function

- Verify calculations, design changes, and interpret contract plans and specifications

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure plans adhere to city code, state, and federal regulations

Requirements:

- High School Diploma

- 0-1 years of relevant post-education experience in a discipline with prior drafting and design support experience

- Associate's/technical degree in an accredited drafting program or sufficient industry experience

- Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills

- Familiarity with drafting and design support principles, practices, and techniques
